cleaning

After graduating and getting into a school, people come up to me and say "oh that's great, you have three months of doing nothing."

actually, there's too much to do in three months and honestly, three months is not even enough time to relax. After my eye opening trip to NYC (which will be in a later post I'm sure), I thought I could worry about those things later, but life comes at ya and all you can really do is think of the positive side.

and the positive side for me is, I can finally clean my room and have a fresh start.

As I was rummaging through my old papers, notes, homework, textbooks, lab reports, manuals and random works I came across some more of my old writings from Humanities I and II. One that really shined was my old writings about Andy Warhol's artworks.

"All new kinds of art arose from the classical masters and new art fought traditional themes which included impressionism, pointillism and realism and during the beginning of the twentieth century came modern art. Contemporary art had all kinds of variations, there was no real influence and one kind of style. Who knew using brand names, everyday home objects could ever become a phenomenon for art? Andy Warhol utilized his commercial art experience and merged it with his artistic abilities to create this new wave into the twentieth century. He painted banal subjects such as, Coca Cola bottles, Campbells soup cans, and celebrity icons during his time, dollar bills and coins. He wanted to connect celebrities with bums and the rich with the poor.."

"...one quote that really makes me love Andy Warhol's work was, "Coke is Coke and no matter how rich you are, you can't get a better one than the homeless woman on the corner is drinking." He was a character that audiences who view his art, film, and books were to create for themselves. I feel that contemporary art will last forever because there will be continuous interpretations, it'll never be right or wrong. His passion for pop culture shown through his artwork, to his style to redefine contemporary art and through the many other art fields that Warhol contributed to. Andy Warhol accomplished what he aimed for and that is, whenever you see his paintings of the Campbell soup can, the banana, Marilyn Monroe; you'll know exactly who made it."

possibilities

Growing up, I went through all types of stages, you name it, I wanted to become it at some point in my life. At home, my parents told me to become someone different from them and become someone who doesn't have to worry about the things that they do.
But at school, my teachers told me the opposite, to be whatever makes me happy, and to reach for my dreams.
An architect, an animator, a singer, a doctor,a pharmacist, were the dream careers I had when I was younger because those were the things that were a part of my hobbies and interests.
As college began, I wanted to start focusing on my life, my future and most importantly, the person I wanted to become.
The first two years were rough, I didn't know how to study, I didn't know if I could pass the pre-reqs for Pharmacy and I didn't know how to handle my workload. I began to doubt myself and question myself over and over..but what I failed to stop thinking about, was my future.

I feel once u have this focus, this aspiration and motivation to become something - you don't care about the hard work that it entails, the things in life u might miss and forgetting all the trivial things. I think many people have this vision of "I want this future", but never GET up and become it. & that was exactly what I was doing. cliche as it may sound, NOTHING ever COMES EASY. Once you get caught up in the workload, caught up in emotions, certain "lifestyles" of the rich or the famous and caught up in doubting yourself: we always forget one thing: the focus on your future. The last two years, I've learned how to incorporate school into my life, patience, time management and most importantly, never losing what I want the most and the ONE thing I have the most control over: my future.

To me, it's not just about a career, or having that car I've always dreamt of. To me, it's about accomplishment, all that hard work you done, owning things that I worked hard for, success and showing those who never believed in you (including yourself)..how strong willed you are.

These 5 years of undergrad taught me a lot about the student I am, but also had molded me into the person I am today. Of course, the next four years will be the next chapter full of challenges in my life; I know inevitably, I will continue to become a better person. One that can hopefully change at least one person's life and when I have children, I can tell them, to reach for their dreams and tell them what my mom always told me, "It's not about how smart or talented you are, it's about how dedicated you are to your dreams"

inspiration

Been looking through blogs to find inspiration to remodel my sanctuary. My room is TINY and with the limited amount of space I have, I really need something simple while still allowing me to fit everything I have in my room (minimalist!).

All of the ideas I've seen for my bedroom made me realize how much I LOVE bookshelves! In the future, I want at least one of the rooms in my house to be full of books that I've read throughout my life.

Here are some bedrooms that I really liked thus far:

reminds me of 500 days of summer, with the giant chalkboard on the wall..

nervous.

"All men dream but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes to make it possible."

I don't just say I'll do it. I make it happen.

browsing

Our 3rd Valentines day together :)

While browsing through my bookmarked blogs, I came upon a great list of things I wanted to share.

From her list of things every girl should consider:

28. Adapt.

Sounds easy, but it’s something that takes years to master.

Be able to adapt to whatever situation you’re in. If you’re in an uncomfortable situation, you can either shrink back and shut down, or you can adapt. Always adapt. Things cannot always go your way, so never expect them to.

27. Always look polished. Be put together, no matter what you’re doing. Do not wear sweatpants outside the house. This includes Juicy Couture. Which you shouldn’t wear in the first place.

25. Have an opinion. About everything. Positive, negative, just have one! ”I don’t know” tells people nothing. A person with no opinion is a person who commands no respect.

12. (That said -) Don't be afraid to be by yourself. Learning to be independent is a lesson you’ll use throughout life.
It’s great to have someone to share your life with, but never be with someone because you need someone to be with. Be with them because they make your already fantastic life even better.

with that said, amen sister :)

what continues to make my day :)

I've been asking my boyfriend to make choreo or dance to Tae Yang's Wedding Dress video. & well, he finally did. This was his client's "wedding video" that he told me he had to go meet with almost all last week, but really it was just to make this video for me :)

I love him and I hope you all enjoyed your day as well :)

life is not a problem to be solved...

it is a mystery to be lived.

in honor of valentine's day:

"Girls are taught a lot of stuff growing up. If a guy punches you he likes you. Never try to trim your own bangs and someday you will meet a wonderful guy and get your very own happy ending. Every movie we see, Every story we're told implores us to wait for it, the third act twist, the unexpected declaration of love, the exception to the rule. But sometimes we're so focused on finding our happy ending we don't learn how to read the signs. How to tell from the ones who want us and the ones who don't, the ones who will stay and the ones who will leave. And maybe a happy ending doesn't include a guy, maybe... it's you, on your own, picking up the pieces and starting over, freeing yourself up for something better in the future. Maybe the happy ending is... just... moving on. Or maybe the happy ending is this, knowing after all the unreturned phone calls, broken-hearts, through the blunders and misread signals, through all the pain and embarrassment you never gave up hope. stars in our eyes

Possible chance of snow in Florida?? Even if it's sleet and the flakes will melt once it hits the ground, I am excited for the possibility of it!
The past few days have been so cold! I've been sleeping with socks, long pants and a hoodie. The last time I could remember wearing that much to sleep was probably when I first moved to America and I was 6 years old. This weather has been a love/hate relationship, I hate how it makes me want to sleep forever, but I love how Florida looks and feels with this kind of weather :)
What makes the nights even better?

Hot Soy Vanilla Latte, Cleaning out my closet & Lady Gaga's fame monster on repeat :)

Lately, I've been getting a great workout from biking at the gym & doing p90x at Justin's. I figured the key to a great workout and not feeling tired during a workout is MUSIC!! I think changing up your playlist is crucial, especially to whatever songs that you wouldn't mind hearing over and over.

I haven't added music that I've loved in a while. Not to mention an album that has kept my attention span and one that I actually listen to the whole song throughout the album, but Lady Gaga's "The Fame Monster" is on repeat on my ipod. I don't know if I could go on my 30 minute bike rides/spin without it! For those looking for a great workout that isn't too strenuous but still works up a sweat, this is what I have been doing at the gym:

-1.5 mile run on track or more.
-30 minute bike ride:
1.) first four minutes just in normal position
2.) 6-10 minutes in #2 position which is basically pedaling and getting off your seat with ur hands on the bars.
3.) 6-10 minutes switching off in position #3 and #4 which is basically pedaling and holding the bars at the very end and bending down lower.

I like spin class, but sometimes the times at which they are at are not convenient for me or especially during this break, they've been cancelled. So, I made up my own workout while listening to music I get to pick :)

I also, learned today..YOGA Is definitely not my forte.

3. sleeping past 12 pm
4. put all my new and old jackets to use
5. eating, wine, cafes..
6. magic game
7. Disney
8. fed swans
9. biking at the gym
10. lastly, catch up on all my bookmarked blogs that were neglected during the semester

..there's still a week left and I want to try and do as many things as possible this week and continue it during the spring semester as well.

Nothing starts the new year better than lunch with the girls and walking down Lake Eola & Thorton Park on a chilly day.
After going to Pom pom's which was ridiculously packed, we visited a few cafes and local spots, but ended back at our initial spot :)

Brings back memories of when preferred tea over espresso

Although, there were many choices, I decided on the sweetened blueberry tea
